S.A.D. 41 Dictionary Day Scheduled!

Coming Soon!

Friday, November 19th will be a “big” day third grade students from the district will be receiving their own personal dictionaries compliments of Valley Grange. They’ll also learn a bit about our agricultural history–including the Grange’s relationship to our mail system of R.F.D. (Rural Free Delivery). Coming Soon! The goal of the program is to assist third grade students to complete the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers by providing them with their own personal dictionaries. The dictionaries are a gift to each student to use at school and home for years to come. This will be the Grange’s third year providing dictionaries to third graders in the district.  Parents with home-schooled third graders are welcome to attend or to contact the school to receive a dictionary.

The Grange Team will visit each school on Friday November 19th as follows:

  • Marion C. Cook School in Lagrange at 8:30 AM.
  • Milo Elementary School in Milo at 10:00 AM.
  • Brownville Elementary School at noon.

Resolutions Posted

For those who might not know, the early Grange was much about “lobbying”–primarily for the benefit of the rural/farming community. This heritage continues, and every year at State Grange Conference resolutions are considered. We’re posting the results for this year for your information… Resolutions 2010.

As you may know, I recently assumed the position of webmaster for the Maine State Grange website. Once the redesign is complete most of this state-related information will be readily available there and I’ll save Valley’s space and bandwidth (which is free but limited) by not duplicating it here.
